Committee for Children

Safer Kids Today, a Better World Tomorrow

Committee for Children
Based in Seattle, nonprofit Committee for Children is the world’s largest provider of educational programs for preventing violence, bullying, and sexual abuse. We are helping more than 9 million children in 25,000 schools in 26 countries around the globe stay safe, respect themselves and others, succeed in school today, and build a better world tomorrow.

Schools that use Committee for Children programs become safer and calmer places where teachers can teach and children can learn.

  • The Second Step program aims to strengthen factors that lead to success in school by helping students in kindergarten through eighth grade develop empathy and learn to control impulses, solve problems, and manage anger.
  • The Steps to Respect program is designed to reduce bullying in elementary schools by teaching students friendship skills, how to refuse and report bullying, and what to do if they are bystanders to bullying incidents.
  • The Talking About Touching program teaches students in kindergarten through third grade about personal safety to help protect them in unsafe situations and against sexual abuse.
