Training Camp Report
The Lynx are furiously working at the practice facility to prepare for the season opener on June 6. Training camp will feature 15 players battling for 11 spots on the final roster in three weeks. Check out the latest news and notes from practice this week.
After an offseason filled with trades and free agent acquisitions, head coach Don Zierden was ready to hit the hardwood floor for training camp. Coach Z is focused on making sure the players get in game shape for the first preseason game this Saturday. Defense is the top priority for improvement as the Lynx chase a playoff spot this year after falling two games short of the postseason in 2008. Zierden believes the training camp process is designed for players to define roles.

The Lynx leading scorer, Seimone Augustus entered her fourth training camp for the Minnesota franchise. Augustus is concentrating on becoming a dominant player on defense and offense this upcoming season. As one of five returning players for the Lynx, Augustus felt like the "old lady" at practice but she is excited to welcome her new teammates to the team.

Renee Montgomery is relieved that she worked out before the rigorous two-a-day training camp sessions. The rookie will now begin to make the adjustments from the college game to the WNBA. Specifically, Montgomery wanted to get the ball out on the break quicker in comparison to her time at Connecticut.

The Minnesota coaching staff is extremely excited about the potential for Quanitra Hollingsworth at the center position. On Wednesday morning, Hollingsworth suffered a bit of a set back with a quadriceps strain. She hopes to return to practice for the night session and trying to avoid a possible nagging injury throughout training camp.
